Counselor-in-Training

What is the role of the counselor?

Now in its third year, the Adventure Camp Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program offers middle school and high school students (must have completed 6th grade) a chance to develop leadership, interpersonal, and practical skills while mentoring younger campers (grades K-5). Each CIT is assigned a group of five campers to guide, support, and lead through the exciting activities planned each day, all while gaining hands-on experience.

CITs meet daily with Mrs. Syvertsen for an hour of community building, leadership training, and problem-solving. Sessions focus on developing effective communication, teamwork, positive attitude, and enthusiasm. Counselors also receive First Aid and CPR training to prepare them for real-world responsibilities. Throughout the day, Ms. Richards and Mr. W provide additional guidance and support to ensure a positive and successful experience.
